Brisbane, capital of Queensland, and Australias new World City is located on the Brisbane River and is home to 2.4 million residents.

Believed to be Australias future Super City, the South East Queensland metropolitan region, encompasses a population of more than 3.6 million and is expected to surpass the populations of Sydney and Melbourne once the urban sprawl connects Brisbane with the Sunshine Coast to north, the Gold Coast to the south, and Ipswich to the west.

Brisbane’ s Universities include the University of Queensland (UQ), Queensland University of Technology(QUT) and Griffith University. Brisbane is also home to the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts.

There are three major TAFE colleges in Brisbane; the Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE, and the Southbank Institute of TAFE.  Brisbane is also home to numerous other independent tertiary providers, including the Australian College of Natural Medicine, the Queensland Theological College, the Brisbane College of Theology, QANTM (SAE Institute), Jazz Music Institute, Jschool: Journalism Education & Training, JMC Academy.

A reduction in infrastructure charges to new developers who build PBSA (Purpose Built Student Accommodation) has seen many new investors enter the market in 2016-2018 and new developments in the CBD and surrounding neighbourhoods taking the existing supply of 6000 beds in 2015 to 25,000+ and growing in 2020.

Some new and existing PBSA are Student One, Iglu, Atira Student Living, UniLodge, Urbanest, Uniresort, Genesis1 and Scape. Property management companies such as Hive and Brisbane Students also provide accommodation in apartments and sharehouses.
